2nd Week of April, 2022

I tried for Grass Carp on flies.  Caught 2 small ones and 1 larger one (34", ~ 15 lbs), and lost another large one after a good battle.

Caught a small bass:

 I tried for Freshwater Drum on flies again.  Caught 2 on back-to-back casts, and they were the only ones caught....just like last week.  Bizarre.

First Week of April 2022

 Badgered the Koi again.  Not very cooperative, but managed to catch 7 on the fly rod.

The one below is the same as the one above....the photo below shows its interesting fins better.

Went looking for Freshwater Drum a couple days later.  Caught 2!

I got hissed at by a goose guarding a nest.  Good thing!  I didn't see it first.

Also saw Goldfinches, ducks, turtles, a frog, 3 snakes, and a Giant Water Beetle.

Late March 2022

 Cooler weekend than recent weather.  Highs only in the low 40's, and breezy.  Decided to target colorful fish.  Fish were pretty active!  While flyfishing, I caught 18 Koi and 6 Goldfish.  Here's some of them:

Mid-March 2022

 Went fishing with my brother.  He caught his first flyrod fish ever.  Pretty cool!

I caught Bluegills, Green Sunfish, Redear Sunfish, and BIG Golden Shiners.  I measured some that were 10" or a little more.

Early March 2022

 Got out on Sunday. Fished a public pond and an urban creek.

Caught Largemouth Bass, Bluegills, Redear Sunfish, Green Sunfish, a White Crappie, a Golden Shiner, and a Creek Chub. 4 were new species for the year, bringing me to 17 for 2022 so far.

Late February 2022

 Had other fishing species goals for yesterday...but the target location was 100% ice covered.  Backup location was 65% ice covered....water was clear.  only saw 3 fish, and they all spooked when I cast to them.

Option #3.  Muddy cold water, few visible fish, and they were mostly deep.  Catching was a struggle.  Managed 4 Koi and 2 Goldfish on fly gear.
