Caught 5 Grass Carp yesterday. Biggest was this 31-incher:

( I apologize for the open mouth.  It was over 100 degrees, I was overheating, so this was my last fish of the day)

Also caught 2 Kentucky Spotted Bass.

And, caught 2 gar.  Shortnose Gar are the most common gar where I fish.  These two both had a lot more spots/markings than the typical Shortnose.  I'm wondering if these could be Spotted Gar or a hybrid, or just atypical Shortnose.

For comparison purposes, this is what a typical Shortnose looks like in my area:

Fished for an hour or so after work.  Caught some Bullheads and some big Goldfish.  Biggest Goldfish measured 12"!  And I think I recognize that fish as one I also caught last year!

Caught 1 Green Sunfish, 1 White Bass, 2 Shortnose Gar, and 6 Grass Carp while flyfishing.

Had an hour or two to flyfish after work.  99 degrees F.  Caught 7 Koi and 8 Goldfish.  Lots of refusals from koi, and had one nice one break my tippet.  Most of the koi I caught were small.  Still fun, though.

Fished a creek for a few hours, hoping to find Goldeye.  Did not catch any of those.

Did catch Shortnose Gar (2, didn't take any pics), Grass Carp (2), and a 19"+ Freshwater Drum.

This stuff is blooming now.  Love the purple-blue flowers...always wondered what it was.  Google Lens identified it as Chickory!

July 3, 2022

Fly-fished an urban creek.

Caught 6 species....Grass Carp, Common Carp, Shortnose Gar, Longnose Gar, White Bass, and Channel Catfish.

The Lognose Gar was 30.5", my biggest one so far.  They get MUCH bigger.

This is my first Common Carp of the year:
I caught 3 Grass Carp, and lost another.  This put me at exactly 200 lifetime flyrod grass carp caught!
