I say, "you're not letting the line straighten out behind you," or, Don't let the rod drop past your head," (thus the 2 o'clock) or something similar. Despite really trying to help it must seem I'm a know it all. So now I don't do a thing unless I'm asked. In your case catching fish the way you do as an example may be the best thing.
