The ...Dave, will try posting a comment again here. The first one disappeared somehow. Anyway, nothing I like better than looking at some beautiful Big Bluegill. This post hit the sweet spot for me. If it ever quits raining in Northern Colorado (flood problems, again) perhaps I will find some Bluegills up close and personal.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2280254602600282932.post-14342682973462673592015-05-20T06:35:18.862-07:002015-05-20T06:35:18.862-07:00Bill, yes, they are inadvertantly fertilized. Nearly all the local public ponds have groomed and fertilized soccer fields and lawns in their watersheds.
Most get serious algae blooms/mats throughout the season. The local municipalities have treated most of the ponds for algae already this year, which has made them much more beautiful and enjoyable to fish. And so far, low rainfall amounts have kept more silt and fertilizer from reaching the ponds as well.
I'm amazed at how fat the (female) bluegills have been this Spring. I assume that means its gonna be an excellent spawn this year!FishnDavehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12224770232081356438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2280254602600282932.post-77589628393560551912015-05-19T16:45:40.635-07:002015-05-19T16:45:40.635-07:00Beautiful!!!!!!
